8 May 1913: O 7 is ordered.

1914

12 May 1914: O 7 is laid down at Maatschappij Fijenoord in Rotterdam. O 7 is the first submarine built by this shipyard. The K.M. De Schelde shipyard in Vlissingen has built all Dutch submarines until now.

The Netherlands is neutral.

1916

22 July 1916: O 7 is launched.

21 Dec 1916 - 25 Sep 1918: O 7 is under the command of Ltz. I .

23 Dec 1916: O 7 is commissioned to the Royal Netherlands Navy.

1927

18 May 1927 at 13:30: The O 7 collides with the Swedish steamer Scania in the area of the Haaks lightship (off Texel, The Netherlands). After arrival of the steamer in Zaandam some leakage is found in the forepeak, and the foreship is somewhat buckled. The damage to the submarine is unknown.

21 May 1927: In the presence of (2nd officer of the O 7) the master of the Scania  writes this account.

1935

1935: O 7 is re-commissioned for continuous training service. In particular for the benefit of young submarine commanders.

1938

Jan - May 1938: O 7 is under the command of ?

1938 - 12 Dec 1939: O 7 is under the command of Ltz. II  .

1939

21 Nov 1939 or 21 Dec 1939: O 7 is decommissioned because she is unfit for further service and because she is out of date.

Dec 1939: O 8 replaces O 7 as the training boat.

21 Dec 1939: O 7 is decommissioned because she is unfit for further service and because she is out of date. She is sold for scrap.

1940

10 May 1940: Germany attacks the Netherlands.

The Germans capture the O 7, but the old boat is of no interest to the German Navy.

1944

2 May 1944: O 7 sinks due to a leak at her moorings in Den Helder naval base.

1945

8 May 1945: Germany surrenders.

15 Aug 1945: Japan surrenders.

19??

O 7 is raised and scrapped.
