R&D Submarine torpedo transport system |
![]() |
Conceptual, design, basic and detail engineering of the torpedo transport system of the new U214 class submarines.
Ordered by Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft AG (HDW) in Kiel, Germany
The Dutchmen have a good reputation in the design and building of modern, effective and highly advanced conventional submarines. Especially the torpedo transport installation and the arrangement of the torpedo room of the Dutch submarines is well-known by its excellent design, which expresses itself in among others a good operability and accessibility, a low maintainability, a very high class shock and noise performance, and a very high availability and reliability of the installation.
All these designs and the engineering on these installations have been performed by Nevesbu, in close co-operation with the Royal Netherlands Navy. And from this point of view it is just plain logic, that a most reputated conventional submarine yard like HDW asked Nevesbu in 1998 to help them with the design and engineering of the torpedo transport system for their new U214 class of submarines.
Nevesbu was ordered to make two different variants for the torpedo transport system. From the first conceptual studies, through the design and basic engineering, Nevesbu has made all detail production drawings including all necessary calculations and specifications for two variants of the torpedo transport system.
