The GIPSY data/combat system is developed by Dutch company Holland Signaal (HSA) for the Dutch Walrus (2) submarine class. GIPSY stands for 'Geautomatiseerd Informatieverwerkend Presentatie Systeem', or, Automated Information Presentation System. All weapons and sensors on the submarine are incorporated into this system. The fire control is also integrated into the GIPSY functions. In order to provide GIPSY with the information and control of subsystems, all major SEWACO subsystems are interfaced with GIPSY

GIDS is used to log operational Command & Control information from the GIPSY combat system and to perform quick look analysis of the data.

GIPSY is SEWACO VIII, a federated combat system. The associated sonar is fully integrated into the system, controlled by standard consoles. Sonar processing adds another pair of unattended SMR-MUs to the two already in processing cabinet. In all, GIPSY requires seven standard single-operator consoles, probably arranged along a data bus connected to the processor cabinet, so that they can operate interchangeably. presumably two are typically used for sonar display (active and passive), one for contact evaluation (waterfall to determine which targets are most important), one for interactive TMA, one for target classification, one for command decision (to display the overall tactical plot or to solve navigational problems), and one for weapons control.

On midlife modernization the two Zwaardvis (2) class submarines were fitted with a scaled-down GIPSY, retaining the earlier M8/7 FCS. It employs a single central computer cabinet (CCC, containing one SMR-MU) and two DaCCs. As in Walrus (2) class, sensor (medium-range sonar, a down-sized Elodone, and radar) data feed into the CCC, which forms the tactical picture. It in turn feeds targets into the FCS. Overall capability is described as a third of that of a Walrus (2) class submarine.
A possible upgrade, now that the subs are for sale, would be to replace the M8/7-14 and the passive sonar ranging unit (LAS-10) with two more DaCCs, one for the tactical plot and the other for FCS. The other two DaCCs would be used solely for sonar control.

The Royal Dutch Navy uses the nick name "Orca" for the GIPSY trainer.
