Note: The sunk vessel is probably the Japanese coastal vessel Kaishin Maru #2 (150t) which was sunk in the Java Sea by O 19 on 16 Nov 1944. (Photo: © Collection H.M. van der Veen / P. van der Veen).

Unknown crew member on an unknown submarine bridge, year also unknown. Since this photo is from the collection of H.M. van der Veen it is probably a photo of O 19's bridge. Please email us at webmaster@dutchsubmarines.com if you have any additional information on this photo. (Photo: © Collection H.M. van der Veen / P. van der Veen).
Torpedo (type unknown) being loaded on board O 19, in the back HMS Vulpine. O 19 left the U.K. in June 1944 and Vulpine (launched 28 Dec 1943) was commissioned on June 2nd 1944 and then attached to 3rd Flotilla in Holy Loch. So this photo is probably taken in the late second quarter of 1944 in Scotland. The emblem of the frog is referring to the O 19's commander A. van Karnebeek, who's nickname is 'Kikker' (Frog) because of his wide mouth. In the bottom right (with oil coat and cap) Sgt. torpedomaker W. Snel. (Photo: © Collection IMH / Siem Spruijt).
