"Slok op tank III" (draught in MBT III) in order to reduce the profile and speed up diving times, New London, USA 1943. From this position the submarine could dive in as little as 20 seconds. At a later date A.Hopman wrote that the sub is not running with decks awash but is actually surfacing.

The bridge of K XV, March 1944 some where between Exmouth and Fremantle. From right to left: Watch Officer Sub Lieutenant Soebiakto, later Admiral Indonesion Navy and Ambassador of Indonesia, Engineering Officer Lieutenant Commander Loek Kleiman and Charles Leeksma. Charles came on board in Exmouth with the charts of the Australian waters after a patrol from Colombo via Sunda straits to (unexpected by the crew) Fremantle.
