Plaque of the K XIV, 1942 (Photo: © Barry Williams). In March 2003 Barry wrote: ".....this black plaque is a hand cut silhouette of the K-14. This was made for my mother by a Dutch sailor who she was dating at the time in Philadelphia, I believe my mother said the Seaman that made this was a Rating (Machinist). His goal after the war was to return home and become a Sanitation Worker. She explained that Holland is very neat and clean and Sanitation Workers were considered honourable tradesmen......"
