escorting allied convoys on the Atlantic Ocean, later (December 1942) the famous Timor-trips where he evacuates
around 1.200 men mainly KNIL-personnel) without the Japanese noticing
from Timor in three very dangerous operations. Later he was decorated the LMA.4 by President Roosevelt himself and was also decorated
the E.24 for
these actions.
