1942, January -   He was instructed to fly to the US along with Lt.Gov. General Van Mook to see
 if they could purchase airplanes for the defence of the Dutch East Indies
Rest of WWII       Convoy control officer.
* His son writes: "I am not sure and I do not have any written records to verify, but my memory seems to indicate that during 1930-31
 he might have been a division submarine commander. That might explain why commands of so many submarines were listed in his
 records during that short period"
